When mechanized and self propelled parking systems are constructed in the basements of apartments and hotels, there are cases where vibrations and noises cause problems for the above and surrounding rooms. Problems are especially present during night time when environmental noises drop and it is easy to hear from within rooms. Sound leaks into not just the space directly above the parking lot, but thanks to structure borne sound transmission, continues on to the surrounding areas as well. A dampening counter measure becomes absolutely necessary. In a building where a living area is directly above the parking lot, shielding also becomes necessary. Inside the parking system, there are echoes and sound levels rise and fall. There exists engine noise and the doors must open and close.
